Meet THE X FACTOR Dancers
THE X FACTOR is certainly all about great singing, great performances, and that certain something that this show is all about. But, behind every great star is a great team of stylists, choreographers, and vocal coaches that help the talent be their best. That, of course, includes the fabulous THE X FACTOR dancers who mesmerize us with their awesome talent, style, and swagger every week.
And we have our brilliant head choreographer and Consulting Producer Brian Friedman and his dance team to thank for that, which includes Associate Consulting Producer Tiana Brown, Senior Associate Choreographer Miguel Zarate, and Associate Choreographer Tucker Barkley.
Out of the 700 dancers who auditioned only 14 core dancers and 11 backup dancers were chosen. “I was looking around the room, kind of doing a scan, and the stars just pop out,” Brian tells us. “You can tell who they are, and that’s what I wanted when I see them on camera. I wanted people that you glance across from the artist and you see another artist.”
Tiana couldn’t agree more with Brian on the high caliber of the dancers. “We went through so many dancers, and we knew, from working with Simon [Cowell] before, what he likes,” Tiana says. “He likes them beautiful. He likes them in shape. He likes variety, and that’s exactly what we wanted to do. We wanted to really bring a dancer to appeal to every kind of person that watches the show.”
Collectively, these dancers have performed with some of the greats, including Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce. Three of them have been on So You Think You Can Dance and all of them are seasoned pros.
“The dancers are so amazing because they are all so different,” Miguel says, “It’s such a versatile, awkwardly unique cast. I think that this is the only type of show where you can find that many different types of genre dancers all dancing together.”
In addition to their versatility, Tucker talks about their adaptability as well. “They know what to do, they can adapt to anything,” he says. “They’re smart and quick dancers. They can learn a whole piece in three minutes, and we can throw them onstage and it’ll be great.”
Speaking of quick, the dancers typically get about two hours to rehearse for each number (for Michael Jackson week, they had six numbers, so you do the math!). They rehearse like crazy all day Saturday and Sunday, and must be ready to have the songs, choreography, and wardrobe change on them at a drop of a hat.
“We have to live up to the expectation of what dance is in this world, and our dancers have to be on point at all times,” Tiana explains. “They know that changes are going to happen. I always tell them, never marry a thought, because it’s going to change.”
So without further adieu, let's get to know the core THE X FACTOR dancers a little bit better…and since they’re also so hot and sexy here’s some additional pictures of all of them.

I have been dancing professionally since the youthful age of 9. I've been dancing for many life times. I’ve danced for Good Morning America, American Music Awards, Video Music Awards, Victoria Secret’s fashion show, and the Wayne Brady Show. I’ve danced with the Pussycat Dolls, Katy Perry, Destiny’s Child, NSYNC, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, and Michael Jackson.
What is the rehearsal process like?
It’s hard work to get to the actual show, but so rewarding when we hit the stage.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
It's been awesome! I've thoroughly enjoyed everyone in front of and behind the camera. It's like nothing else I've ever done. It's ever-changing and challenging and boy, do I love a challenge.
Because it’s one of my many ways to express myself. Artists who inspire me are the ones who expand my mind with their craft.

What is your dancing background?
I grew up doing every style of dance. I began with ballet at the age of three and completely fell in love with dance! I also trained in jazz, hip-hop, tap, contemporary, and modern. I also did many competitions and summer intensives such as the Juilliard School, American Ballet Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Kirov Academy of Ballet, and School of American Ballet to name a few. At the age of 16, I moved to New York City to train at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and pursue a career in dance. At 17, I was accepted into the Juilliard School and also booked a world tour to dance alongside Beyonce Knowles, who I've worked with for over five years now. I've performed on many TV shows and award shows such as the Grammy Awards, The Oprah Winfrey Show, the MTV VMAs, American Music Awards, and the BET Awards, and worked with artist such as Tina Turner, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, LaToya Jackson, and Ne-Yo to name a few.
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process for THE X FACTOR is nothing like any other job I've ever done! Each week we learn anywhere from 1-8 a day, which are constantly changing because of the music and song changes, so there is no time to slack. Even though it's so intense, I love how much it challenges me and we have all become so close like family. We end up having so much fun! I personally have to always keep an open mind and expect the unexpected! Then I'll hopefully be prepared!
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Being a professional dancer is AMAZING! It's a busy, crazy lifestyle, but I love every second of it! I feel so blessed to be that girl who I used to watch the TV and wonder, 'How can I be her?!' I'm living my dream...what more can I ask for! It has been such an amazing experience to work and perform each week on THE X FACTOR. I'm blessed to have worked with some of the best choreographers and dancers in the business, along with the incredible judges and contestants! I'm so proud and honored to say I am a part of the first season of THE X FACTOR USA!
I dance because I LOVE IT! Dance is my language. It's how I speak. I'm inspired my music. Music drives my soul and when I hit the stage and know that I've touched or inspired at least one other person, that gives me more drive to be the best I can be, always!

My grandparents and mom have always danced and love the arts, but it’s my little sister Marie-Eve that gave me the extra push to start taking dance classes at the age of 15. Though versatile, I have always focused on the culture of hip-hop and I am a proud member of Blueprint Cru (ABDC S5). I have worked on projects such as So You Think You Can Dance in Canada (Top 8), America's Got Talent, Mobbed, Kids Choice Awards, the Official Michael Jackson Experience (Kinect), and I’ve worked with artists such as Nicole Scherzinger, David Guetta, and Shawn Desman to name a few.
What is the rehearsal process like?
With THE X FACTOR aiming for every act to be bigger than the next, for every contestant to have an award show quality performance, us dancers can expect a lot of hours of rehearsals! On top of staying hydrated, eating properly, and sleeping well, it is crucial that I stay open-minded to the constant changes we have to make in preparation for the live show.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Having the important role of an X FACTOR dancer and being that involved in this show has been a blessing! Working with Brian Friedman, his team, and the amazing group of dancers has been so inspiring, definitely one of the best training I have had! THE X FACTOR is definitely one of the biggest shows I have been on. The production and everyone involved puts their blood, sweat, and tears into creating an amazing show every week. This experience feels different from any other shows I have been a part of because of how involved the dancers are all season long. We are definitely a family now!
There is no other place I feel more alive and comfortable than a stage. Now don’t get me wrong, I get nervous every single time! Letting myself be guided by music makes me feel so good and living through this art form just feels right. The continuous support and belief I get from my family, friends, and mentor Steve Bolton are what inspire me to work so hard.

Dancing is in my blood. I would twirl around in the grocery stores, malls, restaurants, everywhere. I think my mom got the point and finally put me in classes at the age of seven. Go mom! I love learning and morphing into all styles of dance and want to do everything under the sun, but my dance background includes ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, and jazz funk. For most of my career, I have danced and toured for Miley Cyrus and can be seen as a dancer in the feature films High School Musical 3 and Footloose. Being a professional dancer was my dream ever since I was little and when I saw Dirty Dancing. And it's exactly how I imagined. I work hard, long hours to live on stage and travel the world!
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process for THE X FACTOR dancers is fast-paced, spontaneous, and keeps you on your toes. The dancers have a saying that we constantly remind ourselves of for this show, "Do not marry anything." With each week comes a new challenge, and I think good rest, multi- vitamins, stretching, perseverance, and team spirit are the key elements on my checklist for a successful show.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Being a resident dancer on THE X FACTOR has been a huge learning experience for me, as well as a huge blessing. I'm lucky to perform and work with such amazingly talented singers, choreographers, dancers, directors, and crew men. Everyone!
I dance because it is my passion, my love, my best form of expression, and it is what I am meant to do on this Earth. Love inspires me. Love for my family and friends, love for music, love for freedom, love for life. And I have an amazing best friend who inspires me everyday. Thank you Miguel Zarate!!

What is your dancing background?
I started dancing at the age of 15. It all started when I was at home one day and saw the Britney Spears video "I’m a Slave 4 U" pop on my TV. That video made me get up and want to learn those dance moves. And since that day, I've been very passionate about it. I've danced for the Latin Grammy Awards, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, THE X FACTOR Australia, THE X FACTOR USA, Dancing With The Stars, the Academy of Country Music Awards, Jenny Jones Show, Fox Sports Awards, and a lot of Latin shows while I lived in Miami like Premios Lo Nuestro, Sabado Gigante, Show de Cristina, Escandalo TV, Despierta America, El Gordo y La Flaca, Premios Juventud, Caliente, and Premios Billboards, just to name a few. Jazz, Latin partnering, and hip-hop are the styles that I've focused on the most since I started dancing, but I've also done some commercial contemporary, jazz funk, and ballroom.
What is the rehearsal process like?
It’s long. We have four to five, eight hour days to put everything together for the live Wednesday and Thursday shows. It's a lot of work, but it’s a fun process. :)
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
It's been more than amazing. I get to perform onstage with an incredibly talented group of dancers and singers every week, and on top of that, work with Brian Friedman. He’s someone who I've looked up to since I started my dancing career at the age of 15. I couldn't have asked for more. I feel blessed with this opportunity!
I've just loved it since I was very young. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The people I surround myself with inspire me on an everyday basis. They’re positive, driven, hardworking people. They’re people that always go for what they want and never give up.

What is your dancing background?
I started dancing at the age of nine because I saw how beautiful my older sister Jessica looked dancing in a company here in Los Angeles choreographed by Dee Caspary. I grew up in Utah dancing at the Dance Club at the age of 16 and I started traveling with a dance convention called New York City Dance Alliance where I got the majority my training. My dance specialties fall into contemporary, ballet, jazz, Latin, ballroom, hip-hop, and tap. I competed on So You Think You Can Dance season 2 and made it to the top 4 female. I now have come back to So You Think You Can Dance on seasons 7 and 8 as an allstar. I was also in the Disney hit movies High School Musical and High School Musical 2. I have danced for Ellen, Good Morning America, American Music Awards, Much Music, Dancing With The Stars, and guest starred on E! I've danced most recently for Demi Lovato for her Unbroken Tour, and have danced for Rihanna, Clay Aiken, Train, Enrique Iglesias, Jack Black, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
What is the rehearsal process like?
We rehearse for shows for hours and hours, dissecting every move down to where every finger lays. In order to dance great you have to be prepared, stretched, and alert at all times in rehearsal. I give myself a nice warm-up, and try to bounce around to keep energy flowing in my body.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
With THE X FACTOR you have to be ready for anything. We dance any and every style. The key is to be quick and alert. But it's been a great experience working and learning from Brian Friedman. The dancers have created a little family that I will always treasure. The difference is the variety in the acts. I love changing up the styles. But my favorite is how incredible all of our costumes are, and how elaborate each number is. Every number is its own show itself.
It truly is what keeps me happy. I love that I can express myself while being able to move my body all at the same time. I'm inspired by my peers around me. I try to keep myself surrounded by other artists. And also, my daughter Weslie is the biggest inspiration in my life. She's why I keep pushing for greatness.

What is your dancing background?
I started dancing when I was eight, at which time my gymnastic coach told my mother that she should put me in dance lessons. Since then, I became technically trained in jazz, contemporary, and jazz funk. I have fortunately danced for several TV pilots such as a Solid Gold remake and Grace, as well as American Idol and America’s Got Talent. In addition, I danced for Rihanna and was an assistant choreographer for JLo.
What is the rehearsal process like?
We are taught new dances every week from top choreographers. It has been a tremendous experience to work with and learn from the best in our industry.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
My experience dancing on THE X FACTOR has been amazing. There is never a dull moment, which makes our job very exciting. The talent on this show is incredible. There is truly an adrenaline rush that awaits us with each new production due to the creative nature of THE X FACTOR.
I dance because I have to. I have no other true passion. What I am referring to is that I stepped away from the working dance world to earn a B.S. degree in biology. However, during this time in college, there was not a day that I didn't miss dancing and the way it made me feel. Now I have such a fire and want to work and dance for years to come.

Because I was born into a family of dance, I got to learn several genres of dance such as tap dance, jazz, ballroom, hip-hop, and jazz funk. I've been here for over a year and I’ve had the pleasure of working on projects such as THE X FACTOR U.K, THE X FACTOR France, THE X FACTOR USA, America’s Got Talent, Dancing With The Stars, Billboard Music Awards, NRJ, Monsters of HipHop, and with Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and the Britney Spears tribute at the Video Music Awards. I'm also very proud that, prior to my move to L.A., I was named Ambassador of Dance in my country. I was the global face of Nike and I also led my bolero teams to winning multiple international competitions.
What is the rehearsal process like?
Every week, I look forward to rehearsals because you never know what you’re getting. The show is always full of surprises and I love it. I love working hard! Mentally, I definitely prepare for the long days ahead. This job is definitely one of the hardest jobs I've ever done, and to succeed in my dances, I make sure that I am present.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Dancing on THE X FACTOR has always been very interesting to me because I get to see the hard work that everyone, including production, the contestants, and the dancers put in. It's a pleasure to be a part of THE X FACTOR family. I admire Brian Friedman. He's beyond professional. He pushes us to our best limits!
There's no better feeling than the feedback I receive after teaching or dancing. As an artist, my passion and personality lie in the hands of those whose life I change and help grow. I believe that dance changes people in a positive way.

What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process is long and physically and mentally challenging, but that's part of what makes it so exciting. The amount of work that everyone puts into this show to make it a success is incredible.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
It has been such a rewarding experience dancing on THE X FACTOR each week and working with so many talented people. I have learned so much from everyone involved in the show. It has been my favorite job by far! :)
I consider dance my first language, as it has been my way of communicating and sharing with people. When I dance, I work towards not thinking, but just allowing my soul to channel through my movement and move me. I believe the art of dance is so special because unlike most arts, the product is the individual, using one’s body as the instrument. When I am dancing, that is when I feel most alive and happy. And being able to share that with so many people and inspire them is exactly why I dance!

What is your dancing background?
I grew up in my mom's dance studio so I've trained in hip-hop, ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, theater, tap, martial arts, etc. and had the pleasure of performing on shows like So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, America's Got Talent, American Idol, Glee, Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Grammy Awards, and MTV VMAs, European Music Awards. I have been on tour with Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson, and the Spice Girls and also gotten to work with artists like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Nicole Scherzinger, the Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, and Snoop Dogg.
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process is what we like to call FOCDA for the Fear of Commitment Dance Academy. It's a translation of our state of being and the state in which our minds must mold to requiring an ability to always be present and flexible to the idea that things will change, and they always do. The only way to create the slightest bit of stability is always practicing and reviewing and taking the time to pay attention to everyone's track because it is very likely that you will have to reverse your choreography and learn new spacing. It's an environment where humor is key and agility of the mind and body is the execution.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Understanding that THE X FACTOR is a world in itself, not just a television show, and that it's an around-the-clock opportunity, allowed me to find a lot of happiness in the fact that I get to work hard and sweat hard and express hard with a wonderful group of people who care about the vision of our artistic creators. It's also shown that it's very possible to find a huge collection of love and talent and that this energy can be harvested in one small place at the same time. What more could someone ask for?
To be able to express oneself, one's thoughts, one's feelings, one's desires through horizontal and vertical movement is one of the most liberating art forms for the body and spirit. I dance because I have something to say. I dance because I'm intrigued and moved by the influence of physical creation and how experiencing this craft in person can allow people to feel things that they may never have felt before, to experience what can't be put into words. Individuality and creativity are what fuel my fire; art that is unbound and colors outside of the lines; a spirit whose feet lift off this world's surface only to venture into the nonphysical realm of passion; and a manifestation that is constructed with a purpose; that's what gives me my daily vitamin in art and dance.

What is your dancing background?
I have been dancing since the age of four and am trained in ballet, pointe, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, Broadway, and hip-hop. Most recently, I was a contestant on season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance, but I have also appeared on shows such as Glee, House, Dancing With The Stars, America's Got Talent, Kid's Choice Awards, and the MTV Video Music Awards, and have danced for artists Demi Lovato and Florence + the Machine.
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process is always very exciting and inspiring, but challenging at the same time. Although it is fun, we have to learn many dances in short periods of time, which can sometimes be stressful. Everything is constantly changing up until the day of the show, so I always have to keep practicing to ensure I remember the steps.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Dancing on THE X FACTOR has been a dream job for me! Not only do I get to work under the incredible Brian Friedman and perform weekly on national television, but I also get to be continually inspired by my fellow dancers and the contestants. Everyone on the show is so talented and I feel extremely grateful to have had this amazing opportunity.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been very shy. Verbal communication is sometimes difficult for me and that's why I fell in love with dance. Movement is my personal form of communication. It is how I speak and how I let go. I also dance because I love performing. There is no better feeling in the world than when I am on stage in front of an audience!

What is your dancing background?
My dance background comes from a teeny dance studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia starting at the age of 7. I am technically trained in contemporary, ballet, pointe, flamenco, ballroom, lyrical, jazz, tap, modern, and have also extended my training since moving out to L.A. in the styles of hip-hop, [popping, locking, and House. Alongside of THE X FACTOR, I've danced on shows including America's Got Talent, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing With The Stars. I've had the honor of working with stars like Janet Jackson, Annie Lennox, Ne-Yo, Carmit Bachar, Anika Noni Rose, Julianne Hough, Chase Crawford, and one of your very own X FACTOR judge, Nicole Scherzinger!!
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process for me on THE X FACTOR has been such a preparing experience. All of the dancers on the show are like family to me, and I have had such a pleasure sharing laughs, giving energy, and honing in on the way they work, so for that, it puts my mind at ease when in rehearsal. I usually prepare for my dances by really taking a close observation at the way the choreographer presents his work. I feed off the energy of the song, the concept, and interpretation for the direction of movement and from there my mind, body, and soul compare it to real life experiences, instantaneous feeling, and relate to both the artist and choreographer to make the best decisions for the performance.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
This whole experience on this show has been such a reincarnating experience for me as an artist. From, the judges, to the mentors, the artists, my dance family, the backstage staff, and the artistic style team, I've played a sponge the last nine weeks. It gets me excited for where I'm about to take my career and has helped me to realize that we are art, so as human beings we treat it the same way normal people treat life. They try to keep it alive the best way they know how. That's what we all have in common on this show; the best way we know how comes from the best people that make those choices. I'm forever honored and feel very blessed to surround myself by people that make me no longer feel like a freak or a weirdo, but a muse enlightened and motivated to keep creating appendages of the heart.
I dance because there's not another option for release. It's like for any human being that gets a new job, or scores a date with a hot girl, wins the lottery, etc. anything that's worth something for them, they do a victory dance or show appreciation through movement. The only difference between human beings and artists is that our vocabulary bigger. My inspiration comes from experience, relationships, situation, music, and vogue magazine, but I feel that my most greatest inspiration comes from the crazy things that come from my head.

When I was 3 years old my mother threw me into ballet class and since then I haven't looked back! Throughout my childhood I have also trained in tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe, and aerial tissu. In my career I have had the fortune to be a part of Rihanna's Last Girl On Earth Tour and Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite-Les Folies World Tour. I have also been able to rock out on America's Got Talent, MTV's VMAs, American Music Awards, Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Ellen, and Dancing With The Stars, while working for artists such as Beyonce, Prince, Carrie Underwood, Willow Smith, Hugh Jackman, and America Ferrera. You can also catch me in the remake of Fame and campaigns for Gap and Nike.
What is the rehearsal process like?
Our rehearsal week starts on Saturday where we learn all of our routines for the week to a rough piano track. Over the next few days the routines get changed in accordance to the developments in the music. These quick-paced changes are what makes THE X FACTOR a more challenging job than others I have been a part of. In a matter of minutes, we will go from a contemporary ballad routine to a dance-beat robot mix. On other projects, the tracks are typically established before we start working with them, so the changes made are never that drastic. Though the week is extremely stressful, I live and thrive for the constant change and growth. Every dancer and choreographer that is a part of this project is at the top of their game, and their talent and drive has pushed me to become better and stronger.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Despite THE X FACTOR being one of the hardest jobs I have ever been a part of, having the opportunity to dance from week to week for such talented singers, while wearing the most incredible costumes, has been such a blessing.

What is your dancing background?
My background of dancing branched from being a competitive cheerleader. From there, I learned how to tumble, stunt, and dance. After cheer, I fell in love with hip-hop, street jazz, and jazz funk. I started dancing when I was about 13. I saw Britney Spears’ "Oops!... I Did It Again" Video Music Awards performance that included my idol Brian Friedman. I was suddenly infatuated with everything dance. I have been blessed to dance for the first THE X FACTOR U.K. winner Leona Lewis and other artists like Miley Cyrus, Kylie Minogue, Alicia Keys, and Carrie Underwood. I have danced on TV shows like Victorious, iCarly, Glee, Kid's Choice Awards, and America's Got Talent.
What is the rehearsal process like?
The rehearsal process can be somewhat stressful and grueling because concepts and songs are always changing. Not to mention we are constantly moving and sweating all day, but it’s very cool to be a part of the creative process, work with different choreographers, and help make the contestants’ songs come alive.
What has it been like dancing on THE X FACTOR?
Dancing on THE X FACTOR has been a dream come true. It has made me a better dancer physically and mentally. I can now say I have a second family known as THE X FACTOR family. The talent and showmanship from everyone, including the contestants, production, and dancers, are breathtaking. It was an epic moment of a lifetime dancing for the MJ family. It can't get better than that.
I dance because it satisfies my happy bone like nothing else. Dance brings out a different side of me that doesn't come out in my daily life. When I dance, I feel free. My inspiration definitely comes from my peers. The number of talented dancers I'm surrounded with every day inspires me to the fullest.
