As they say, to get to the light, you must go through the dark. And tonight's second-to-last audition episode certainly had its fair share of dreadful auditions. (For a recap of the good ones, click here
Tonight's show kicked off with a resounding "no" from all four judges for Adonis and John, aka the OGs - Original Greeks
, a duo who fell flat with an urban-flavored "Hello" by Lionel Richie. Not only did the crowd boo them, but Britney Spears
LOL'd throughout their entire audition. "I've never heard that song so hood," giggled Demi Lovato
. "It wasn't rapping. It was just you going 'ugh' while he murdered the song," said Simon Cowell
. The highlight of their audition was after they left the stage when all four judges mimicked the duo's "ugh" ad-libs. Funny stuff!
Two more stand-out baddies included 52-year-old Changyi Li
from China who dressed in a sailor outfit a bit young for her age and has hopes of being as big as Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears. After slaughtering Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic
, she should hope no more. "If they ever remake the film, you could replace the iceberg. Just sing the song and down it goes," quipped Simon, who is earning back his Mr. Nasty moniker tonight.
Meanwhile, newly engaged couple, who go by Jaime
, proved equally annoying as they sung an original, "Will You Be My Baby?" The Miami couple shared a lot of PDAs pre-audition much to the chagrin of the fellow contestants. They truly thought they would win the judges over with the first song they ever wrote as a couple, but the lovefest didn't exactly extend to the judges' table. "It was so corny. So not what is happening right now. It's cabaret," said Simon. Ditto that.
The night's montage of "no's" was just as memorable. The funniest one-liners came mostly from the mouth of Simon: "It was The Exorcist." "It was like taking a musical sleeping pill." "You do sing like an eight-year-old." "You murdered that song... But that wasn't manslaughter. That was first degree." One unlucky contestant even fell to the ground in tears. Ouch!
Tune in TOMORROW for the final night of auditions at 8/7c on FOX.
