Before we get to the good ones, it must be noted that tonight's bad ones were extraordinary. For more on them, check this article out here.
Okay, now onto the lucky ones...
Dinah Jane Hansen (Providence audition, 15, Santa Ana, CA): If she wins the $5 million, she'll certainly move out of the house she shares with 20 other people! She got four yeses for Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy." "You took that thing to places even Beyonce didn't take it! And you didn't copy her," said L.A. Reid, who then predicted she will be a finalist. Britney said, "You made my day. I felt like I had a connection with you the moment you started singing." Demi said, "I got the chills several times while you were singing." Simon loved her too.
Arin Ray (Providence audition, 16, Cincinnati, OH): Remember Arin from Season 1's InTENsity?! He's baaaccckkk and all grown up. "It's like you've turned from a boy into a man in a year," noted Simon. Demi once again got flirty and said, "You're cute." Once he revealed his underage, she looked embarrassed and said, "Oops." Yeah, Demi, oops, you did it again! He wowed the judges with his romantic original, "Count on Me." "You embody X FACTOR all day and night," said L.A. "You're a true star," said Britney. "'Your confidence is really, really hot," said Demi. Simon added, "You're a different person. You've got this great quiet confidence about you." Welcome back, Arin!
Nick Perrelli (Providence audition, 16, Astoria, Queens, NY): Bringing some Frank Sinatra swagger to the party this season, Nick stood out with "Fly Me to the Moon" and made the ladies in the audience swoon. "I thought you were brilliant," said Britney. "You are one to watch,? said Simon. Four more easy yeses here. An overwhelmed Nick left the stage in tears.
Beatrice Miller (Providence audition, 13, Maplewood, NJ): File her under: Adorbs! This sweetie-pie made Demi instantly gush, "You're so cute." She's a good singer too and impressed the judges with "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks. "You really are special," said L.A. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
ONE4FIVE (Providence audition, Jules, 19, and Jemelle Joseph, 23, Long Island, NY): Their audition got off to a spooky start when they were asked to take their glasses off and Jemelle revealed strikingly light blue contact lenses, to which L.A. responded, "No, you put your glassed back on." "WHAT?! That's so scary," said Demi. Simon dug it, though. "I like them. It's kind of more zombie," he said. Crazy eyes aside, their freestyle rap impressed the judges and the crowd, which the duo worked beautifully. The rap went a little something like this: "Hey, Demi, you really got something that I need. I see you trying to flirt. I just hope you're not a tease." Wowza! Guess they notice that she calls all the boys "cute." Demi was "blown away." "I'm completely sold," she said. The other three agreed and off to Boot Camp they go.
Austin Corini (Greensboro audition, 16, Gilroy, CA): Another crowd pleaser came in the form of this bleached blond. Two young girls squealed when they saw him, calling him "sexy" and "really cute." They even asked for his autograph and for hugs in hopes they can say they met him before he was famous. He sang Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" and got mixed reviews. "I love your hair. I think you're very cute. I loved it," said Britney. "You're so cute," said Demi, who also saw the sparkle in his eyes. L.A. thought he was adorable as well, but felt like he's seen a kid like him 25 times. Simon said he needs to be remembered for his voice and not his hair and needs to take some vocal lessons. That said, they all gave Austin a shot.
Nick Youngerman (Greensboro audition, 20, janitor, Tipp City, OH): Highlight of the night was seeing Britney dance - like, really, really dance! - to Nick's version of Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby." So good. She even blew him kisses at the end and all four judges put him through.
David Correy (Greensboro audition, 26, musician, Riva, MD): His story? He drove 13 hours to get to the audition and he hopes to connect to his Brazilian birth mother through his voice and through this show. He sang an emotional version of Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are," which ended in four fat yeses and a sea of tears (his own).
Sophie Tweed-Simmons (San Francisco audition, 19, student, Los Angeles, CA): Gene Simmons' daughter can sing! Go figure. But, before we get to that, it was pretty fun to watch the KISS bassist stand in that long audition line forever to support his little girl, who had only told him the night before she was auditioning. She's hoping to break free of his shadow and pave her own way and her rendition of Adele's "Make You Feel My Love" put her one step closer to doing just that. Demi said she needs more control in her voice, L.A. didn't think she was ready and said "no," but Britney thought her voice was amazing and Simon liked her interesting tone. Three out of four ain't bad and it's certainly good enough for Boot Camp. (One faux pas: She called Britney "ma'am." Eek!)
Tara Simon (San Francisco audition, 27, vocal coach/studio owner, Atlanta, GA): Oh, this one's a handful, or a drama queen as Simon put it. She's a vocal coach, owns a studio, has a ton of singing experience, is highly competitive, got a bit prickly about Sophie's famous dad backstage, and considers herself already famous. And she talks so much that Simon had to say, "Shut up and start singing." But, the girl can sing. She earned four yeses with her version of "Without You" by David Guetta featuring Usher. "I think you over-sang the song in parts. It was all a little bit too much as if a vocal coach had told you how to do that," he said, probably not knowing that she IS a vocal coach. That aside, they all agreed she has a great voice and off she went a happy camper.
Daryl Black (San Francisco audition, 37, musician, Sacramento, CA): This married man with five kids impressed everyone with a slowed down version of "Stereo Hearts" by Gym Glass Heroes. "You remind me of Nat King Cole," said L.A. Simon, Britney, and Demi loved his voice as well.
Last but not least, a big up goes out to Britney Spears for her amazeballs sense of humor. We were treated to a backstage prank against Wade, the judges' runner who fetches the foursome anything anytime. She made him get her a straw hat before the show then changed her mind and had him fetch a tiara. Very cute moment.
Speaking of cute, we also meet a precocious 13-year-old from Temecula, CA, named Trevor Moran who is making quite a name for himself with his dance videos on YouTube. We get a glimpse of his dancing chops on tonight's episode, but before he could audition, he fell ill and paramedics were called in. To be continued tomorrow?
But also receiving Yeses tonight were: Natalie Martin, Skyler Clark-Hamel, Tiffany Viray, Tory Thurman, and Debora Dias. For the most up-to-date list of the YESES so far, check our Contestant Wall.
Tune in tomorrow at 8/7c on FOX to see the fate of little twinkle toes Trevor Moran, and for the FINAL audition episode of the season!
