"I'm so excited to be here," echoed fellow judge Demi Lovato, looking Old Hollywood glam in Top Shop. "I wanted to do a classic Hollywood look to match how incredible this thing is," said the "Give Your Heart a Break" star just before putting her handprints and signature in the cement outside the famous theater Tuesday night.
Simon Cowell said this premiere feels different than others he's been a part of. "It feels like a buzz, right?" he told us. "I think it's the girls' star power and people looking forward to the show. When you actually see the show, it's like nothing you've ever seen before."
Though no host announcement came, Simon said it is coming this week, that it is a boy and a girl, and that he got his choice. Demi and the other judges seem to be in the dark as to who the new hosts are. "I have no idea who it is, but I cannot wait to find out!" Demi told us.
During the handprint ceremony, fans started singing "Give Your Heart a Break" and randomly shouting out, "It's Britney, Bitch," as the four judges got on hands and knees to cement their place in Hollywood history forever. Though Simon Cowell was honored at the momentous occasion, he joked, "I think we'll probably get cemented over in two weeks." Britney signed her name in the air as practice and then added flowers to her real signature and handprints. Demi added a smiley face to hers! The ribbing between Simon and Demi carried on from the judges' table to last night's festivities as Simon threw the white towel he used to wipe the cement off his hands on Demi's well-coifed head.
The big treat for the fans, though, was getting to see the first episode in all its two-hour glory (make that 83 minutes without commercials) on the big screen at the famous theater. Mike Darnell, head of alternative programming at FOX, said in introducing the episode, "This feels like a big Hollywood premiere," and he couldn't be more right. As the judges made their way down the middle aisle of the theatre, they slapped hands with fans along the route. After hi-fiving Britney, one young male fan said, "Oh my God, I could die now!"
During the screening, fans - who were treated to popcorn, Pepsi, and gifted black knit X FACTOR beanies upon entrance - LOL'd at the new behind-the-scenes reality moments of the show, cried at certain singers' emotional stories, cheered relentlessly, and screamed out even more "We love you Britney!" and "We love you Demi!" We got it! You love Britney and Demi!
After the screening - the Fab 4 took to the stage to take questions from the crowd, as well as from Twitter and Facebook. Simon talked about a blonde contestant he deems to be a "vile monster" (you gotta see the first episode to see what he's talking about!), L.A. Reid revealed that Britney's his favorite judge (to which someone shouted yet another, "It's Britney, Bitch!"), Demi joked that L.A. told her Simon is much uglier in person, and Britney looked sincerely honored, humbled, and somewhat embarrassed by the massive amount of "We love you Britney!" being shouted her way.
Oh, and there was more talk about a possible Britney Spears and Demi Lovato duet (Simon's pushing for it and the girls smiled and nodded along. More on that next week!), and, get this, he said he'd love to have the guys in One Direction come on and guest judge. Fingers. Firmly. Crossed!
On the way out of the event, one young female fan turned to her friend and said, "This was the best night ever!" We couldn't agree more!
Tune in TONIGHT at 8/7c on FOX for THE X FACTOR Season 2 Premiere!
