My advice for everyone trying to be an artist and pursue music....or just anyone fighting for their dream: give it all you got-- be fearless, don't look back and trust your instincts! And yourself! Just really fight to the finish and never give up-don't let anyone tear you down or make you believe that your dreams are too big. I say if your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough. I'm born and raised in NYC and it has given me tough skin. I've been fearless since I was very young- since I started doing music and meeting a lot of people in this industry. I've always had the mindset that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Every opportunity could be your final chance. I've always shown people that maybe you don't understand me well or misperceive me but this is who I am and this is my talent and what I'm bringing to the table. And you either like it or not. I say that I've been pretty fearless my whole life when it comes to my talent and showing people who I am and what I've got to offer.
Giving 100% means a million percent to me-it's when you totally let down all of your barriers and you get lost in what you're doing and you're in the moment and not in the past or in the future, but in the moment and you're giving it all you've got. You're letting go completely and giving yourself to people as a performer, as an artist, as a singer.
Some of my rituals are just kind of separating myself from everyone and finding that center and that space where I can get back to myself and meditate. It can be for 5 seconds, but I need that to clear my mind. I need to talk to myself and talk to the high powers that be and who I believe in and be thankful and give praise and thanks for these opportunities and where I am now in life. That always helps clear my mind and settle the butterflies and then I go out and do what I do.
