We caught up with Simon Cowell last night to get some dish on how he plans to celebrate his big week and to eek out just a few more details about what to expect, and the biggest tidbit was that he will likely be announcing who the new hosts are THIS WEEK!
Of course he wouldn't say who the hosts are - no Spoiler Alert here - but he told us it is definitely NOT Kelly Osbourne and Glee's Kevin McHale. Who is it then? "It'll definitely be two co-hosts and it goes the way I'm hoping it's gonna go, we're going to make the announcement this week," Simon said. Tune into all of our social media and news sections of this very website this week for the announcement.
Meanwhile, Simon is super excited about getting dirty on Tuesday when he and fellow judges - L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, and Demi Lovato - will get their handprints in the cement walkway outside of the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Droves of screaming fans expected to show up for the momentous occasion, which will be followed by the two-hour advance screening of the first episode and a Q&A with the judges. "I like premiering the show in a cinema because it's a great way for people to see the show for the first time," he said. "And, then someone told me we're doing the handprints, which is very cool."
We also caught up with Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid today. "I'm excited," said Demi of her big week. "She's trending!" L.A. was quick to interject. On the handprint ceremony, Demi said, "It's unfathomable that I'm doing that. My handprints are going to be next to superstars and icons." "Like who?" asked L.A. "Marilyn Monroe and little Shirley Temple, who i looked up to. I'm very honored," she said. "This is a really big deal, right?" he asked. Right!
But, how will they be spending Wednesday night when the two-hour show airs on FOX at 8/7c Chained to his Twitter! "I like to watch it as it goes out," Simon said "And, the great thing now is we watch it with Twitter and Facebook running at the same time and it's a whole different experience because you get to see what people liked, what they don't like. It's a fun way of watching it." (Don't forget to tweet along with us @TheXFactorUSA while you watch this week.)
Speaking of Twitter, did you notice that THE X FACTOR (#XFactor2DaysAway and #Queen D, to name a few!) has been trending big time? You can continuing supporting THE X FACTOR by participating in our Who's Your Favorite Judge promotion on Twitter. Here are the hashtags and Twitter handles:
As for what to expect this season, the biggest change, according to Simon, is the behind-the-scenes reality element of the show, where you see the contestants interacting with each other. "We tell it this time through the contestants, so the cameras have gone further than we've ever shown before," he explained. "And some of them are absolutely totally vile with each another. They're competitive. They're evil. So we've done it to, a) be different than all the other shows out there, and, secondly, this is the show I've always wanted to make." (Simon told us to be on the lookout for "these two vile blonde girls" in early episodes. Can. Not. Wait!)
THE X FACTOR Season 2 debuts THIS Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 8/7c on FOX and returns the next night, Thursday, Sept. 13. Tune in!
