"I think I probably am the most eccentric contestant," admits the 35-year-old from San Francisco. "I do have a different style and way of being. I'm really proud of the variety we have in San Francisco and I feel like I reflect that."
But surprisingly, the Top 12 singer whose Over 25s' mentor L.A. Reid has dubbed "Mr. Entertainment" once had doubts about his outrageous talent. "When I first started, I wasn't very confident," he recalls. "In fact, people used to say to me, 'Jason, you should be a singer and I'd be like, 'Singer? I can't be a singer.'" When he was hired to do a bar show, though, Jason smiles, "I'm like, 'Wow! You're going to pay me? I'm going to actually do this for money?'"
Jason has blown us away with his Season 2 audition song, Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," his Judges' Homes performance of Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry," his first Live Show number, "Dance Again," by Jennifer Lopez, and his survival song, Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time." We're glad he survived!
No longer doubting his huge potential, Jason says he has THE X FACTOR because, "I am a surprise to the world and I know they're ready for me to light it up with my voice and the glitter explosion. I know I have the talent and personality to be a star. Just look at me!"
