Who is your duet partner on Wednesday's show?
Tate: I'm performing with Little Big Town. It's gonna be exciting. It'll be a bonfire!
What's been your favorite moment of the season?
Tate: The first time they said I got the most votes. That first No. 1 was so cool. Being the only true country act in doing this, it felt great that country fans came out and supported us.
What is the best advice your mentor, L.A. Reid, has given you?
Tate: He said you have to be confident in what you do. He exudes confidence in us, which helps. He's so good with is approach to the artist and that helps me a lot.
Describe L.A. in three adjectives.
Tate: Compassionate, driven, and honest. Are those adjectives?
What celebrity would you like to guest in your first music video?
Tate: I think I'm going to have to say Hulk Hogan. That's random wasn't it? Very random. Kind of cool though. Or to have Brad Paisley or Keith Urban playing guitar because they're great guitar players. That would be kind of fun.
What has been your favorite performance other than your own?
Tate: I thought actually Lyric145 had a killer performance with 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,' where they had all the cool clothes, the Mad Hatter, the hats, the whole thing was amazing.
What would you do with the $5 million if you won?
Tate: I'm gonna get another Harley, and whatever my wife wants.
What type of record would you make?
Tate: I am a true country artist. I do a little bit of everything in the country genre. I always throw in a little bit of my traditional country roots along with a country and rock edge to it. Of course, I love to do ballads as well. I feel that I can really connect to people through my music, regardless fast/slow/etc. I like my shows to be high energy and very entertaining. If I were to make an album today it would be modern country with a little bit of a traditional feel, a great combination of the high energy rockin' songs with some killer ballads as well, you know, the kind that rip your heart out.
What do you want to name your debut CD?
Tate: I haven't even thought of what I'm going to eat tonight. First, eating, then record names. [LAUGHS]
