While most people that come to THE X FACTOR strive to show that they not only have incredible talent, but also versatility, the 37-year-old husband and father has foregone the latter, owning who he is and what he does.
"I try to stay true to country music through the years just like [George] Strait [Merle] Haggard and 'George] Jones do," notes Tate. "[At the auditions] in Kansas City, I saw a few cowboy hats throughout the crowd, but not very many. The further along we got with the live audition with the judges, I'm the only dude with a hat!"
Tate might be humble, but one look at his chops onstage and there is no doubt that this is one cowboy that knows no fear (remember this might be the most masculine guy on the planet to proudly proclaim that "real men have Shih Tzus")!. "When I was very young I sang on stage with my dad at different clubs," he recalls. "Then once I got a little older I did every talent show, opry, etc. I also was in celebration church choir and choir is school. Once I graduated I went on the road playing music in a band. I have played numerous venues since then ranging from small clubs and fairs to arena shows. I have opened shows for many of today's biggest country stars."
Tate has captivated the judges and fans alike with his Season 2 Audition song Randy Houser's "Anything Goes," his Boot Camp song "Nobody Knows" by the Tony Rich Project, his Judges' Home performance of Brian McKnight's "Back at One" and his debut Live Show rendition of "Tough" by Craig Morgan.
