Without further adieu, here is how night one of our Season 2 Finale went down...
Song of the Series
This is the act's choice of their favorite song of the season. The order chosen by picking names out of a hat.
Carly Rose Sonenclar, Nina Simone's "Feeling Good": Better the second time around? You bet! "This is a defining moment and you have to top everything you've done and you did," said L.A. Demi was very impressed. "The first time I heard it, it blew me away," said Simon. "And, actually you sang it better tonight than you did the first time." "It's shocking how bright your star is and we're gonna win this," said a proud Britney. Flash to her hometown crowd of supporters and her mayor declared Dec. 19 Carly Rose Sonenclar Day in Westchester, NY.
Tate Stevens, Randy Houser's "Anything Goes": Did anything go right for Tate tonight? Yep! Britney loved his right down the middle country sound. "I still love you. I'm still obsessed with you," said Demi. "Demi, I'm agreeing with you tonight," said Simon. "Oh my God, twins!" joked Demi. L.A. was, once again, in love with Tate's lovability! The cherry on the cake? Tate's hometown boss and mayor revealed a water tower sporting the words, "Home of Tate Stevens." Tate's response: Tears!
Fifth Harmony, Ellie Goulding's "Anything Could Happen": Could anything happen, happen again for these girls? Quite possibly! The set-up was a take on last week's fairytale setting, complete with a big bow atop Camila's head! "I'm looking at it and it's magical," said L.A. "You were the underdogs and now you are the one to beat." "It's like magic happens," said Britney. "It's spectacular, girlie, and just fun." Demi was super impressed, and Simon was beside himself!
Carly Rose Sonenclar and LeAnn Rimes, "How Do I Live": The two got sentimental on the country singer's '90s hit for an amazing #DivasDuet. "I love this girl so much. She's such an amazing talent. I want to wrap her up and just...," said LeAnn. "That was one of the most fun moments I've had on the stage," said Carly. Britney thought the performance was "shockingly amazing."
Tate Stevens and Little Big Town, "Pontoon": Tate sure had fun grooving alongside country band Little Big Town! "He makes country music proud," said the group's Kim Schlapman. "I haven't seen moves like that from Tate all season. He was grooving," noted Mario. "I thought it was so much fun. It was so natural. And guess what? The new love of my life is country music," said L.A. Yee-Haw!
Fifth Harmony and Demi Lovato, "Give Your Heart a Break": Dreams do come true as the girls got to sing with one of their true-blue idols! What did Demi's show rival have to say about it? "Oh God, it pains me to say this, but Demi Lovato you were sensational! That is what I call pop perfection what just happened. Anytime you want to join this group, Demi," said Simon, who also gave it a standing ovation. "It was so much fun," said Demi. Mario joked that they "sounded like Sixth Harmony."
$5 Million Song
Carly Rose Sonenclar, Leona Lewis' version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah": Looking angelic in all white and backed by a choir, the "alien" once again nailed it. "That was a really angelic moment," said L.A. "You not only looked like an angel, but you sang like a ridiculously talented angel," said Demi. "You've had a good night," conceded Simon. "I feel like that song alone is worth 5 million bucks, so you should get out that checkbook Simon," snapped Britney.
Tate Stevens, Chris Young's "Tomorrow": Doing what he does best, Tate proved once again he's a true country star. "That was great, Tate, but then again I always enjoy what you do," said Britney. "I'm almost crying because this is like the last time I'm going to see you perform on this stage," said Demi. "I genuinely believe, and I really mean this, in a year's time we're gonna be hearing about your record sales," said Simon. L.A. was really, really proud.
Fifth Harmony, the Beatles' "Let It Be": These "underdogs" might not be underdogs for long after this perfect pop rendition. "You guys are really like magic happening right before our eyes. That was beautiful and you guys are beautiful," said L.A. Britney thought it was great. Demi was impressed at how they've evolved and grown. "You're not a group. You are five great singers and it's really important to remember that," said Simon.
