Before we get to the how the good news/bad news went down, we were treated to a surprise ensemble performance featuring the Bancroft Middle School Choir with our Top 10, who visited the school in Los Angeles, CA, to help give them a new state-of-the-art music room courtesy of Best Buy. To quote one of the kids: "Today was the best school day ever!" Their second best day came tonight when our Top 10 performed an emotional rendition of Coldplay's "Fix You" with the choir.
Fun time over, folks, and time for some results. Like last week, the act with the lowest votes is sent home immediately. Tonight, the unlucky contestant going home first was Arin Ray. "I think you should just take this as a learning experience and this isn't the last that people are going to hear from you," said Britney Spears to Arin in parting.
While nine other acts anxiously await their fate backstage, Cher Lloyd and Becky G. took the stage to perform their new hit single, "Oath." Loved those fringed jean shorts she shimmied about when singing the lyric, "birds of a feather!"
Finally, time for some good news! The following acts were sent straight through to the Top 8: Diamond White, Vino Alan, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony (whose happy little freak-out was super-cute), Tate Stevens, Paige Thomas (who TOTALLY didn't believe it was her name called!), and last, but not least, Emblem3. Congrats to all!
That left a teary-eyed Beatrice Miller and CeCe Frey in the bottom two to sing for survival! CeCe reached out to console a very upset Beatrice in the most touching moment of the night. The Young Adult was up first to sing for survival with Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You" and nailed it like the determined pro that she is. Beatrice came in next with Dido's "White Flag," which had the audience clapping along after a few emotional lines. Little Bea ended it in tears. CeCe came over and hugged her.
Judges' decision time! Demi sent home Beatrice. Britney sent home CeCe. Naturally! L.A., the first impartial call of the night, chose Beatrice, who broke down further in tears. It's up to Simon now.
"You know what Beatrice, I liked you from the beginning but it think this is all getting too much for you," said Simon. "I don't know how you managed to sing the song after watching that film. I mean, seriously, it breaks your heart." More tears from little Bea. "Are you okay?" asked Khloe. "No," she said, crying.
"Sweetheart, you are so young, you have so far to go," said Britney to Bea. "I just want to tell my sisters that I love them and I'm sorry," said Beatrice in parting.
Now for the real fun part: The Rankings! Here's how the Top 8 rank this week:
