The pressure is on this week as not one, but two acts, will be heading home on tomorrow night's results show. Who did their diva justice? Who fell short? Take a look...
Jennel Garcia: Tina Turner's "Proud Mary": Our rock-chick-turned-Tina-Turner for the night kicked off the show with a rollicking' rendition of "Proud Mary" atop a mirrored platform that had the crowd clapping from the first note. "You just returned to the competition. That smoked," said L.A. Reid. "Tina would be proud that you nailed it," said Britney Spears. Simon Cowell said, "You are back...You look better. You sound better. You were having more fun. It's like a different person. I'm glad you listened to me." Demi Lovato was proud, naturally!
Tate Stevens: Shania Twain's "From This Moment": Who says country guys can't be divas? Tate brought his best divo 'tude to this performance, singing to his wife, and the judges ate it up big time! "Your performance was so heartfelt," said Britney. "Um, ugh, you're so good," said Demi. Simon said it was better than last week, didn't like L.A.'s smug mug, and would be proud to hand him a $5 million check.
Diamond White: Beyonce's "Halo": "Diva night was made for her because she is definitely a diva," declared Britney. She certainly brought a diva voice to the stage and worked the lighted catwalk like a true star. L.A. thought it was really big shoes to fill "and you filled them," but added that she started out shaky. "This week is kinda perfect for you," said Demi. "My advice is don't walk and sing at the same time," warned Simon before adding, "I think we're looking at a future star." Brit was incredibly proud!
Beatrice Miller: Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time": Cool call Britney on going for an alternative diva here. Her intimate performance impressed and loved her YOLO (You Only Live Once) cap. "First of all you are so cute. Oh my God," said L.A., before adding some bad news that he didn't like the song choice. "You are so freakin' adorable. It's ridiculous," echoed Demi, who liked the song choice. Simon liked it better than last week, but then said, "I thought the song was boring. It just went on and on and on and on." Britney snapped back, "Simon she has more talent in her pinky than you do in all of your contestants."
Lyric145: Mash-up of Queen's "We Will Rock You" and Katy Perry's "E.T.": Killer mash-up! Lyric145 once again put their creative spin all over the tracks. "Okay, I'm confused, I'm confused. Who's the diva, was it Queen?" said L.A. "Freddie Mercury was a diva," said Simon. "I just think you guys have lost your way. This could be the last time we see you," said L.A. to a booing audience. Britney thought they should be doing hip-hop tracks. Demi thought "E.T." didn't fit at all. "I don't get it," she said. "Well, I did get it," said Simon.
Arin Ray: Madonna's "Crazy For You": Holy Revelation! Arin admitted that he has a "friend" he could be singing this song to. Flash to a package about his friendship with Normani Hamilton of Fifth Harmony. "This is a $5 million prize and I didn't get a $5 million performance," said L.A. Demi agreed and said she was bored. "I think you also lack soul at the same time," added Demi. "You taking on that song is like asking a cat to eat a tiger," said Simon. What? Britney was not having it. "I felt like you nailed it," she said.
Paige Thomas: Donna Summer's "Last Dance" with Robin S' "Show Me Love": Yes, we finally get to see Paige have some fun and shake it a bit! Did you notice those bejeweled red lips! Wowza! Loved when she sang, "when I'm bad I'm so so bad" practically on Simon's lap! "You get a pass because that was your best yet," said L.A. Simon agreed, but didn't like the dancers. "It was like a disco ball exploded onstage," said Britney. Demi was so proud of her.
Fifth Harmony: Mariah Carey's "Hero": Powerhouse ballad time! This is what this group was made for. "There is something really lovable about all of you," said L.A. Britney was extremely impressed and gave Simon props. "Your vocals just killed it," said Demi. "Maybe this isn't a one horse race. Maybe there's a chance that five girls with brilliant voices can win the show," said proud Simon. After saying he loves working with them, he added one more thing he loves about the group: "You all love puppies." (We're loving the group hugs after each performance too!)
Carly Rose Sonenclar: Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On": The first time we saw Carly, Britney called her a "little diva" and tonight Carly "rose" to the occasion with a beautiful performance of the Titanic hit. "Britney, it pains me to say this...but we could be looking at the winner," said L.A. "Oh, you're so good. And obviously it doesn't make sense. I don't believe that's your voice," said Demi, joking that Celine Dion's hiding in the back. Simon's caught up on her age of 13 again. "I don't believe you're a human being because you can't do that at 13. Your control on that song...and that note at the end was absolutely incredible," he said. Britney had chills.
Vino Alan: Tina Turner's version of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together": Vino's turning into Mr. Romantic with his second love song in a row. Work it, V! "Your voice is so soulful, it just doesn't make sense that that voice comes out of your body," said Britney. "I liked this performance better than last week's," said Demi, but she also "thought it was boring." Simon didn't think it was as good as last week. "You need bigger kinds of songs," he said. L.A. loved it and told Vino, "Let's stay together." Awww.
Emblem3: Alicia Keys' "No One": Hard for some dudes to pull off Diva Week, but they picked a song that was totally up their alley. Not in an attempt to get people to vote for his guys, but Simon revealed that the group "saved some kittens drowning in a late this week." LOL. "You guys have the perfect vocal blend. It was the perfect song," said L.A. "I totally get why the girls are swooned by you," said Britney. Simon thinks this performance will put them on top because "it was absolutely brilliant."
CeCe Frey: Eric Carmen's "All By Myself": CeCe brought down the house in the closing number that hopefully won't leave her all be herself after this week. "I'm at a loss for words," said L.A., who said she sang well but he didn't like her dress. "Sorry she's better than Vino. Sorry I'm not sorry," Demi told L.A. "My guess is that she'll be at the bottom again," L.A. said. "Sorry, I just don't get it," said Britney. L.A. asked why Demi wouldn't talk back to Brit and Demi said because nobody "talks to the Queen like that." Simon said CeCe would be better off singing that song with no one in the room. Ouch!
