Top 12 Results Recap: Two Acts Go Home

Double the elimination! Double the drama! Double the waterworks! Tonight, not one, but two of our acts were sent home, leaving us with a Top 10 moving onto next week. And, we wasted no time in getting to the results with the act with the lowest votes being sent home just 13 minutes into the results show.

After a long dramatic pause by host Mario Lopez who was THIS CLOSE to naming the act before teasing it would be "after the break," the first act heading home was Lyric145. "I feel good. I feel like we didn't get the opportunity to show what we really had," said Lyric Da Queen, who added that they had original hip-hop lyrics they were looking forward to sharing.

To break up the sadness, sweetness incarnate Taylor Swift hit THE X FACTOR stage next with the debut television performance of her latest single, "State of Grace" from her album Red. Loved the red mic and her Annie Hall look. Her advice to our contestants? "Be nice to people." Awww, that's sooo Tay-Tay!

Next up, the remaining acts took the stage, er, the chopping block, and the first to get the good news that they made it to the Top 10 were a very shocked Arin Ray, Vino Alan, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Diamond White, Tate Stevens, Emblem3, Beatrice Miller, and CeCe Frey, who broke down in tears in Demi Lovato's embrace.

That left Fifth Harmony, Paige Thomas, and Jennel Garcia waiting anxiously for their news. The act that is let off the hook and moves onto the Top 10 is Fifth Harmony, leaving Demi's Young Adults, Paige Thomas and Jennel Garcia, to sing for survival.

Rock chick Jennel was up first with Hoobastank's "The Reason." Paige took on Coldplay's "Paradise" as her song for survival. Both nailed it, but one has to go, and now it's the judges' turn to chime in. L.A. said he was "shocked" they are in the bottom, but chose Jennel to send home. Britney also thought they were both "amazing performers," but picked Jennel to leave as well. Simon wanted to go to Demi first, clearly laughing about how she would choose between her two acts. "No, I'm not going to. I'm going to let Demi pick," he said. "You're the boss, we'll go to Demi," said Mario.

Well, now doesn't that put Demi in THE. WORST. POSITION. POSSIBLE? "The act that I'm sending home tonight is, why don't we see from Simon first because he was supposed to go," she said. Mario pressed for an answer. Sophie's Choice moment! OMG. Simon now has to answer and, alluding to Paige as the one with "the best start potential," decides to send Jennel home. A soft-spoken Jennel said she felt "happy that I've come so far" and thanked Demi, who now has some explaining to do to dear Paige who moves onto Top 10.

In parting, Demi said to Jennel, "You have a future ahead of you so I'm not worried. I love you and I really, really believe in you."
