But first, Vino kicked a drug habit, which he memorialized with dramatic tattoos on his head. 10 years off drugs, he says, "The head was to remind me every time I see my face to never forget."
Now it's Sky who inspires Vino to pursue his ambition on THE X FACTOR. "If I didn't have my son, I'd be a vagabond musician forever," confides Vino, one of L.A. Reid's Over 25s who made it into the Top 12. "He's the world to me."
When Sky entered high school, Vino decided he "had to make a move" in his music career. And since auditioning for THE X FACTOR with a soulful interpretation of Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble," he's continued to power through the competition, singing "Bad Company" in Boot Camp, "Sober" by Pink at Judges' Homes, and Nickelback's "Gotta Be Somebody" during the first Live Show.
"I can't shake this music. It's a part of me," says the 40-year-old from St. Louis. "This is my moment to share my art with the world."
